Start with the site, not the panel count
Roof orientation, usable area, shading, access routes, and structural condition all influence what is practical. A survey should also establish where equipment can be safely installed, maintained, and isolated when work is needed.
Match the system to actual energy use
Looking at daytime demand and the way a building operates helps the design team size a system around useful generation. It is more informative than a proposal based only on roof area or a single electricity bill.
